The natural aging process, exposure to sunlight and facial mimicry determine the type of wrinkles and expression lines that each person has. Of course, not all expression lines are considered "negative" on a face, and sometimes horizontal lines indicate only expressiveness and joy. Occasionally, as a result of the exaggerated and permanent contraction of the central muscles of the face, the development of wrinkles that alter the look and give a tired or older appearance may occur. These patients are ideal for treatment with botulinum toxin (Botox®), even when young, and the only goal is to improve their expressiveness and relax the wrinkles that may make them less attractive.

At Personal Derma, botulinum toxin is not used for the purpose of obtaining flat, expressionless faces or raising eyebrows “to infinity” in a purely aesthetic sense. Botulinum toxin is a safe and effective treatment, which allows the patient to resume their daily activities immediately and whose results appear gradually over the course of a week.

Sometimes, the wrinkles are very sharp, almost resembling facial furrows; in this case, the treatment may involve the use of hyaluronic acid, with the objective of filling in wrinkles.

In older patients who have never undergone any skin treatment, or in those with a high sun exposure index, there is a more pronounced deterioration and loss of collagen elasticity. In such cases, it may be necessary to use the various complementary treatments, namely: Laser, chemical pellings, mesotherapy, botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid.

Any of the techniques described, applied to a person with poor skin care habits will have worse results. The same is true for patients who smoke or who are excessively exposed to the sun without adequate protection.

Our medical team will assess each person in a personalized way so that the chosen technique is appropriate and, thus, guarantee results according to the spirit of the Personal Derma Group.
