It is a surgical intervention that changes the shape and size of the nose, so that it has a harmonious image in relation to the rest of the face. Rhinoplasty may be correct when it is necessary to correct an aesthetic component (traumatic or natural deformities) and, in most cases, a functional component of the nose. Thus, rhinoplasty may have as objectives: to reduce a very large nose, to narrow a very wide nose, to align a deviated nose, to eliminate unsightly deformations, to reshape the tip of the nose, to improve the angle between the nose and the upper lip and to improve breathing nasal when there is obstruction that causes difficulty in breathing.
Often rhinoplasty is associated with aplasty, so that the result produces greater harmony with the shapes of the face (profile). The surgical procedure can be open (allows a better definition) especially in secondary cases or closed.
