Liposuction is a surgical procedure in which deposits of localized body fat are removed, with the aid of cannulas, which are introduced into the subcutaneous tissue, aspirating and removing the fat with the aid of a vacuum cleaner. The purpose of this procedure is to improve body contour and proportions, however it is not a treatment for obesity and does not replace a balanced diet and regular exercise.
Liposuction has the advantage of not producing practically visible scars, since it is only necessary to make small incisions about 3 mm long. The final result of liposuction usually occurs 6 months after the procedure.
